• Paul Sellers - CEO

    Paul has been involved in the building industry for over 25 years, previously working with his father running their own building company whilst also working for Oxfordshire fire and rescue service as a fire fighter and operational incident manager.

    These two roles have given Paul a skill set which enables him to work well under pressure, problem solve, manage time effectively and communicate exceptionally well clients. He manages his teams well, bringing strength, cohesion, flexibility and a calm presence to ensure projects are completed both efficiently and with precision. He strives to make the projects for Carma’s clients a stress-free experience; maintaining good communication throughout so that the clients’ vision can become a reality.

    Paul is a husband and a father of two boys and combines his home life with his enjoyment in his work. Paul enjoys skiing and golf (now that his body has given up on playing football…)but he can be found refereeing his sons football matches on occasion.

    Alongside Pauls company management and administrative duties, Paul is our most senior project manager. This is a split role between the office and our various sites. The role is one of support and oversight of our site supervisor responsibilities along with communication and engagement with our supporting professional practices, consultants, sub-contractors and our valued clients.

  • George Edward - Commercial Director

    George joined Carma UK from ISG Group which followed 6 years with highly respected Oxford-based regional contractor Kingerlee Ltd. He has brought with him more than 35 years of experience gained within the construction industry, mainly with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors.

    He has held positions such as Project Manager, Construction Manager and Project Director with several highly respected regional, national and international contractors and has been responsible for several high-profile projects during his career.

    George has been responsible for numerous schools’ projects across Surrey, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire ranging from £4m to 17.5m. Most notably and recently Hampton Academy, Hampton, Richmond-Upon-Thames. London - Value £17.5m. This was a part new build and partly re-modelled Academy School specialising in Performing Arts and Science for 1,050 Students. Principle elements included and insitu concrete and thermally efficient insulated and rendered structural frame, with large windows, roof lights and curtain walling to create central atriums to bring natural light to the heart of the school. Modelled on the Swedish Kunskapsskolan education model based on open plan learning environments with break out learning spaces, the results of which have led to very light, airy and visually appealing teaching environments designed to bring the best of ability out of the school children.

  • Julian Steele-Davis - Construction Director

    Julian joined Carma UK from Leos International Holding Group which followed 4 years with highly respected Oxford-based contractor Greencore Homes Ltd. He has brought with him 38 years of experience gained within the construction industry, mainly with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors.

    He has held positions such as Project Manager, Construction Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Estimating Director with several highly respected contractors. He has worked across many sectors from domestic & commercial refurbishment and maintenance to new build carbon zero housing.

    Julian has been responsible for numerous projects across Avon & Somerset, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire & London ranging from £0.25m to 12m. Most notably and recently Springfield Meadow in Oxfordshire which delivered 9 affordable houses and 16 custom built houses which were all carbon zero in the construction process, and which are net energy in use.

  • Benjamin Franklin - Co-Founder - Managing Director- Senior Site Supervisor

    Benjamin is a highly skilled and experienced construction engineer with an impressive portfolio of projects. He is best known for his instrumental role in constructing the Cardiff National Assembly buildings, which involved managing a large team of contractors and ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of the project.

    In addition to this, Benjamin was also involved in building the QE Hospital Birmingham and the Waste to Energy Plant in Belvedere, both of which required his expertise in managing complex engineering challenges and ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations.

    Benjamin's expertise is not limited to large-scale infrastructure projects, however. He has also been involved in the construction of various prison wings across the country, which required a deep understanding of security protocols and specialized construction techniques.

    Aside from his work in the construction industry, Benjamin also ran a successful facilities company that looks after hotels across the country. This requires a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the needs of hospitality businesses.

    When he's not working, Benjamin enjoys boating and has a passion for tuning old wrecks into sailable vessels. This reflects his love for engineering and his desire to make things work efficiently and beautifully, both on land and on the water.

    Alongside his company management responsibilities, Ben not only carries out a working site supervisor role for his teams sites, but also supports our ever-expanding team of site supervisors.

    Ben is our chief problem solver. To date we haven’t found a problem he hasn’t been able to provide a solution for. This problem-solving skill set is invaluable to Carma’s service provision keeping sites progressing and on program.

  • Philip Taylor - Chairman

    Proven business leader with past experience in investment banking front office sales, structural engineering, software development, construction and construction project management.

    An ideas man with a long line of entrepreneurial startups. His creativity continues with recent construction, payment and project management business launches.

    An accomplished sportsman, self-confessed workaholic, problem solver and most important of all, father of two, devoted husband and loyal friend of many.

    Now residing in Australia for much of the year, Phil is seen and interacted with weekly by the team via remote meetings and clear communication channels.

  • Peter Duckett - Board Advisor - Senior Estimator

    Experienced construction professional and estimator who has spent much of his working life bringing client’s aspirations into being. Well known in the construction industry for being innovative and design conscious while keeping an eye on the budget.

    Peter has many years commercial experience in construction. He has worked across many sectors from domestic to airports and at every level including main contractors such as Laing O’Rourke, sub contractors and major clients such as BAA.

    His background is in estimating but he has also engaged in bid management, change control (including variations), value engineering and architectural advice such as buildability and offsite manufacture.

    He has helped deliver some of the best known buildings such as Canary Wharf, Westminster Magistrates Court and Terminal 2 right down to small house extensions and kitchens.

    Alongside his advisory role to the board of directors, Peter lives and breathes Carma’s estimating work carrying out in extreme detail the pricing of every item of work to be carried out on site. His vast industry experience allows for the granular pricing of even the most complex element of our proposed projects.

  • Darrell Nolan - Managing Director - Roofing

    Darrell Nolan is a highly skilled roofer hailing from Oxfordshire, UK, with over 13 years of extensive experience in the roofing industry. Born and raised in Oxfordshire, Darrell developed a passion for roofing at a young age and has since established himself as a reputable professional in his field.

    Throughout his career, Darrell has worked on various council contracts, contributing his expertise to numerous roofing projects across the region. His exceptional workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality results have earned him a strong reputation among both clients and peers.

    One of Darrell's notable strengths lies in his diverse range of roofing experience. He is well-versed in working with different types of roofs, including both pitch and flat roofs.   • Sylwester Manturewicz - Site Supervisor

    Experienced and passionate site supervisor and craftsman developing his construction skills working on a variety of residential construction sites across London and Oxfordshire.

    He has helped deliver some exceptional developments throughout his career with many notable projects across London, most recently working on a Passive House retrofit project developing new skills and techniques as the industry moves forwards with a more eco centred vision.

    A key attribute to Sylwester work is his mannerism on site. Always a calm, respectful and thoughtful character bringing great wisdom to his team, making him one of our most respected leaders.

    Before refining his skills as a general builder, Sylwester specialised in working at heights building and maintained towers and steel structures during the construction of telecoms infrastructure. He held the position of site foreman, which allowed him to develop confidence in decision making and expand his skills in construction logistics.

    Sylwester is a keen fisherman, spending much of his holiday and weekend life when not with his family, trying to catch that next prize carp whilst enjoying the tranquillity and peacefulness of being near to the water.

  • Mark Lambert - Managing Director - Electrical Services

    Experienced domestic electrician with a very precise eye for detail. Acquiring many qualifications over the years. Including 18th edition, EV charging, 2391 test and inspection and part p.

    Registered with the NICEIC.

    Notable projects being a new install on the self build site Graven Hill. As featured on Grand design, The Streets. Along side work a keen sportsman with a passion for golf and football.

  • Adam Sheppard - H&S Officer - Project Manager

    Adam is a highly skilled and qualified H&S Officer, Project Manager and Construction Manager, with many years of experience working as a construction professional. He has worked in both the Commercial and Residential sectors, including large multi-faceted residential housing developments, smaller commercial projects, and bespoke, high-end individual residential new build and refurbishment projects.

    Experienced at project planning and organisation, he is also an experienced Site Manager. His role is split between H&S oversite, company management and administration duties and the support and oversite of site supervisor responsibilities. He is also involved with stakeholder management and engagement with valued clients, professionals, external consultants and sub-contractors throughout the duration of projects. He has worked as a Health and Safety inspector for the HSE and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Health and Safety Issues on site.

    He is also an accredited Landlord, and manages a portfolio of property throughout Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Devon. Involved with his local community, he is a Parish Councillor.

    A devoted husband and father of two, Adam is a keen Cricket and Rugby fan and former player, enjoying pursuits such as Skiing, SUP and other water sports.
